In this critical role, you will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing our cloud-based PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) infrastructure, ensuring seamless data storage, retrieval, and accessibility for healthcare professionals. This position presents a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of cloud technology and medical imaging, contributing to improved patient care and healthcare outcomes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain cloud-based PACS infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate PACS with other healthcare systems and applications.
- Optimize data storage and retrieval processes to ensure fast and efficient access to medical images and related data.
- Implement security best practices to safeguard patient data and ensure compliance with regulations like HIPAA.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues related to data storage, retrieval, or access.
- Develop and maintain SQL databases to manage medical imaging data.
- Implement data governance policies and procedures to maintain data integrity and quality.
- Provide technical support and training to healthcare professionals using the PACS system.
- Stay updated on emerging trends and technologies in cloud computing, medical imaging, and healthcare IT.
- Ensure proper change control procedures for business-critical applications.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master's degree preferred, equivalent work experience considered).
- Proven experience as a Data Engineer with a focus on cloud-based infrastructure and SQL database maintenance.
- Proficiency in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services including Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, BigQuery, and Cloud SQL (relevant certifications preferred).
- Strong understanding of PACS architecture and standards (e.g., DICOM, HL7).
- Experience with SQL database design, optimization, and maintenance.
- Familiarity with healthcare IT systems and regulations (e.g., HIPAA, HL7, FHIR).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Google Cloud Certified - Professional Data Engineer) preferred.
Salary & Benefits
At Optos, we offer a highly competitive compensation and benefits package, including:
