Job Description: Co-op Program – Data and Finance Internship 2025 (Full Time)

The Opportunity

After the successful go-live of IFRS 17 in 2023 for Manulife, 2024 offers a unique opportunity to enhance IFRS 17 finance operations and reporting efficiency. This aligns with the increasing demand for high-quality data access, system integration, and process control in the Manulife finance community. This internship presents a fantastic opportunity for students to gain valuable data and financial training based on real-world business operations in the life insurance industry.

The role also provides the chance to collaborate with various departments and local finance units, enriching your learning experience and serving as a valuable launchpad for your career.

On the Job Responsibilities

As part of the Regional Controller Team, you will:

• Enhance data insights and financial analysis using newly developed IFRS 17 accounting and financial systems.
• Develop user-friendly IFRS 17 financial reports for Asia finance stakeholders.
• Integrate IFRS 17 financial systems, conducting unit tests, functional tests, system integration tests, and user acceptance tests.
• Re-engineer financial processes using existing financial technology platforms and common software applications.
• Document findings and improvement suggestions using summarized data, Excel spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations.

What We Are Looking For

• Year 2 or Year 3 students, preferably majoring in BBA with a specialization in accounting, decision sciences, managerial economics, statistics, risk management science, or quantitative finance.
• Intermediate MS Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, VBA programming, Power-Pivot, and Power-Query.
• Excellent research, data mining, and financial modeling skills.
• Strong communication skills and team-player mentality.
• Organized and detail-oriented.
• Ability to handle large volumes of complex data.
• Proficiency in summarizing data for presentations using MS Excel and PowerPoint.
