Purpose
Your contribution will be essential to the success of Finance Projects in the APAC region. You will ensure that individual goals and team initiatives are executed to support business strategies and objectives. Compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures is paramount in all activities conducted.
Key Accountabilities
- Cultivate a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage the broader Bank's relationships, systems, and knowledge.
- Support Finance Projects concentrating on automation, data analytics, process enhancements, and system implementation.
- Collaborate with Finance users on data consumption and analytics for various reporting needs, including Regulatory Reporting, MIS Reporting, and more.
- Create reports using tools such as Python for data insights and business analysis.
- Develop and design automated reporting dashboards with tools like Power BI.
- Enhance reporting processes by building macro reports to replace manual workarounds.
- Perform adhoc data extractions, analytics, and dashboarding as required.
- Support system testing and report validation, collaborating with Finance, IT, and Operations.
- Assist IT and developers with ETL validation, coding, mapping, and other automated scripting analysis.
- Bridge the gap between business needs and data science capabilities to identify opportunities and provide meaningful insights.
- Support stakeholders in exploratory data gathering and analytical model building.
- Adhere to Scotiabank’s Values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles while ensuring compliance with operational, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk obligations.

Experience & Qualifications
Academic Background
Currently studying for a degree/major in Computer Science, Accounting, Banking and Finance, or a related technical field.
Experience and Skillsets
- 2-3 years of experience in data science and analytics, preferably in Banking/IT/Finance.
- Highly proficient in data analytics programs/software like SQL, Python, and Power BI.
- Experience in building programs, reports, and dashboards with Power BI and other tools.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both oral and written.
- Team player with a positive and proactive learning attitude.
