What Success Looks Like in This Role

As a Data Architect at Unisys, you will:

• Design and implement complex database solutions using modern technologies like NoSQL, NewSQL, Graph databases, and cloud databases.
• Develop and maintain database architecture and standards, ensuring best practices for data management, governance, and security.
• Collaborate with development teams to optimize database designs for performance and scalability through strategies such as sharding, partitioning, and caching.
• Create data models and database schemas to meet business requirements using techniques like entity-relationship modeling, data normalization, and denormalization.
• Develop strategies for data backup, recovery, and security using technologies like replication, failover, and encryption.
• Monitor and tune database performance to ensure optimal system performance using profiling, tracing, and monitoring tools.
• Maintain detailed database documentation, including data dictionaries, data lineage, and data quality records.
• Evaluate and recommend new database technologies, including cloud-based services, data warehousing solutions, and big data technologies.
• Work closely with system administrators to configure and maintain database systems, manage security, and perform capacity planning.

You Will Be Successful in This Role If You Have

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• At least 10 years of experience in database architecture and design, with expertise in modern database technologies.
• Strong skills in database design, data modeling, and schema development.
• Proficiency in SQL and modern query languages such as GraphQL.
• Experience in Big Data technologies including ETL, ELT, Spark, and Stream Processing.
• Hands-on programming experience in Python, Pyspark, SQL, and PLSQL.
• Experience with database management systems like MongoDB, Cassandra, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and cloud-based databases such as Amazon RDS.
• Knowledge of data backup, recovery, and security strategies, and solutions like AWS Backup and AWS Secrets Manager.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in data analytics and machine learning technologies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience in cross-functional team environments.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, agile development environment with experience in DevOps practices and tools like Docker, Kubernetes, and Jenkins.
• Knowledge of Business Intelligence (BI) tools such as PowerBI or similar is desirable.
