Are you passionate about driving data architecture strategies and fostering data-driven decision-making? SAIT's ITS department is seeking a skilled Data Architect Lead to join our Data Governance Office. Reporting to the Manager of the Data Governance Office, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring data integrity, security, and accessibility.

Key Responsibilities

As a Data Architect Lead, you will:

• Contribute to developing SAIT's overall data strategy and roadmap by assessing institutional data-related needs.
• Implement a strategic data architecture vision and roadmap.
• Design and maintain scalable and reliable data solutions to support business processes.
• Develop and maintain data models, schemas, and database structures to support data integration, storage, and retrieval.
• Design and implement data integration processes and ETL pipelines (Extract, Transform, Load).
• Document data architecture standards, designs, and processes.
• Conduct reviews to approve solutions and identify improvement areas in Data architecture, Integration, Ingestion, and Data models.
• Ensure compliance with data privacy and protection guidelines.
• Supervise and mentor staff, setting professional development plans, goals, and priorities.
• Manage and oversee the Azure Data Platform group's daily activities and performance.
• Identify, create, and implement efficiencies within the Data team.
• Facilitate collaboration and communication among business users, IT teams, data engineers, data analysts, and stakeholders to enhance data efficiency, quality, and value.
• Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in emerging data technologies.

Qualifications & Experience

Education and Experience

• Post-secondary Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Information Systems, or related field, or relevant industry experience.
• 5+ years of experience in IT data-related fields.
• Experience in developing and deploying IT best practices, policies, and processes.
• Advanced knowledge of relational databases, dimensional models, and cloud-based technologies like Azure Synapse.
• Experience in leading the development and optimization of data pipelines, architectures, and data sets.
• Proficient in building infrastructure for optimal data extraction, transformation, and loading.
• Advanced SQL query development skills.
• Experience with data reporting and analytics tools such as Power BI, Tableau, etc.
• Proven ability to manage high development requests and adjust priorities.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams in dynamic environments.

Technical Proficiency

• Strong experience with Azure Synapse technologies.
• Advanced SQL language knowledge.
• 5+ years' supervisory experience with technical teams.
• Microsoft certification and ITIL certification preferred.

Skills Required

• Technical proficiency in database design, data modelling, and data integration.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Leadership skills in supervising, mentoring, and coaching.

Salary range: $100,000 - $117,000

Paid Leave: 4 Weeks Vacation / 14 Flex Days per year
