We are currently extending our business to Latin America, a vast ground transportation market with immense potential, wherein our Regional VP will spearhead our strategy by setting up local teams and accelerating growth through acquisitions.
Job Description
The Data Architecture role is fundamental to the transformation plan we are executing, which aims to bring data to our users and incorporate data into every business decision we make, quickly and confidently.
The Data Architect leads all aspects of the design and implementation of our complete data stack and our modelling decisions. They are tasked with establishing a robust set of non-functional requirements for data products (such as scalability, maintainability, security, developer experience etc) and ensuring their application across the organization.
Main Responsibilities:
- Define the technical data strategy, aligning it with the business data strategy and overall company objectives.
- Delineate data flows, architectural frameworks, and set up standards and principles encompassing modelling, metadata management, and compliance with security and legal requirements.
- Establish and execute change management programs to support the launch of new or migrated capabilities.
- Take the lead in selecting vendors and maintain relationships with them.
- Highlight the importance of developer experience, and advocate for methods and processes that provide a productive, pleasing work environment for developers.
- Provide consultancy on all technical aspects of data management, increasing the knowledge level across the team.
- Build database solutions for secure storage and efficient retrieval of company information.
- Promote and enforce best practices in data governance and GDPR compliance across the data department and all data creators, processors, and consumers.
- Design conceptual and logical data models.
- Contribute to the management of our data infrastructure and our DataOps environment.
Qualifications
- Required
- Proven track record of working as a Data Architect.
- Experience in design, implementation and documentation of data architectures and platforms.
- Proven experience in both streaming and batch data platforms.
- Basic understanding of the system development life cycle.
- Basic understanding of the Modern Data Platform.
- Good knowledge of Cloud Architecture and Services, specifically on GCP.
- Thorough understanding across the whole data stack, incorporating a variety of models and approaches.
- Experience of dealing with extremely large data sets and high-volume data systems.
- Detailed knowledge of data modelling paradigms and the considerations involved in choosing between them.
- Experience of leading non-technical or semi-technical departments through complex change processes.
- A strong interest in working with numbers; outstanding analytical skills, and confidence in working with large data sets; expertise in SQL and other analytical languages (e.g. R/Python).
- A bias towards action and a solution-oriented approach.
- Fluency in English; additional languages are always valued at Omio.

- Experience in a high-volume B2C business.
- Experience in vendor selection and management.
- Experience in the travel industry.
- University degree in Business, Engineering, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a similar field; 7+ years of relevant work experience, preferably in e-commerce.
