Job Role: Data Architect
Role Responsibilities
- Work closely with business stakeholders and analysts to develop data strategies and architectures that align with business goals
- Conduct data discovery and trace data lineage
- Create and maintain data architecture blueprints and roadmaps
- Write complex SQL queries for advanced data analysis, profiling, and retrieval
- Develop and maintain technical documentation: database designs, ER diagrams, data flow charts, system architecture diagrams, data lineage, metadata, and more
- Manage and update a data dictionary, source inventories, and reference/master data sets
- Create and refine data models to represent organization data assets accurately
- Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models
- Design and implement schemas, tables, views, indexes, stored procedures, and other database objects
- Establish and enforce data quality and governance for data accuracy, reliability, and compliance
- Integrate diverse data sources for effective combination and access
- Collaborate with team members for objective achievement and deadline adherence
- Work with data governance teams to uphold data quality, security, and compliance within the Data Lakehouse environment
- Provide technical guidance and support to team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation
- Assess and recommend data-related technologies and tools
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science (or equivalent skills)
- Minimum 7 years of experience in data modeling, including relational, star, and snowflake schemas
- Expertise in database design principles, data architecture, ETL/ELT, and data warehousing concepts
- Experience with databases like Microsoft SQL Server and data platforms such as Microsoft Power BI, Databricks, Apache Spark, Snowflake
- Experience with Azure Cloud and Python development
- Familiarity with data integration, ETL, and visualization tools
- Proficiency in data modeling tools
- Strong understanding of data governance, quality, and security best practices
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with a strong customer focus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Property and Casualty insurance background (nice to have)
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and credit check
