Role Overview

As a Data Architect at 66degrees, you will be assisting clients on their journey to Google Cloud by designing and executing migration strategies. The Data Architect should be adept at converting business and technical needs into scalable and cost-efficient database solutions. 

Responsibilities

• Facilitate, guide, and direct the client and team towards an effective architectural model and act as a liaison between the business leadership, technology leadership, and delivery teams.
• Conduct Migration Assessments and develop Migration Plans that encompass:
  • Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)
  • Migration Architecture
  • Migration Timelines
  • Application Waves 
• Design solution architecture on Google Cloud to support essential workloads
  • Migration of diverse Oracle to Postgres or Spanner
• Plan a migration path that considers the conversion of:
  • Application Dependencies
  • Database objects
  • Data
  • Data Pipelines
  • Orchestration
  • Users and Security
• Supervise migration tasks and provide troubleshooting support, including:
  • Translation of DDL and DML
  • Perform data transfers using native Google Cloud and third-party tools
  • Establishment and configuration of relevant Google Cloud components
• Engage with customer teams as a Google Cloud expert to provide:
  • Educational Workshops
  • Architectural Suggestions
  • Technology assessments and suggestions

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Oracle database management and IT experience.
• Prior experience with Oracle Database adjacent products like Golden Gate and Data Guard.
• 3+ years of PostgreSQL experience
• 5+ years of Consulting experience
• Demonstrable experience in conducting performance tests and implementing remedies to resolve performance issues.
• Experience in designing data models
• Advanced SQL skills, including the ability to write, fine-tune, and interpret SQL queries; specific familiarity with the above-mentioned database platforms is ideal.
• Proven experience in migrating or implementing cloud databases like Cloud SQL, Spanner, and Bigtable
• 2+ years of cloud experience; Google Cloud preferred
• Experience in defining technical architecture in cloud environments; Google Cloud preferred
• A Google Cloud Professional Architect or Data Engineer Certification is preferred
