Data Engineer

Join Western Midstream as an early career Data Engineer in our newly established Data Center of Excellence team in The Woodlands, TX. As a crucial member of our team, you will spearhead the deployment and maintenance of cutting-edge solutions utilizing top-tier platforms, cloud services, and open-source technologies. Use your data and development expertise to enhance our operations and empower our users to achieve success.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and manage data pipelines to efficiently ingest, transform, and distribute data between on-premises and cloud environments.
• Utilize technologies from Aveva PI, Qlik, OpenText, SAP Datasphere, and Azure Cloud Services, including Fabric, Data Factory, Synapse, and others to support custom applications and business intelligence initiatives.
• Employ programming languages such as C#, Java, or Python for automation and API integration tasks.
• Collaborate closely with developers and engineers to provide the automation and data necessary for custom applications, visualizations, and analytic models.
• Conduct comprehensive functional testing, troubleshooting, and performance tuning to ensure developed solutions are reliable and efficient.
• Integrate and maintain new data management technologies, processes, and monitoring tools.

Requirements

• 1-2 years of experience as a Data Engineer or Developer (Python preferred).
• Basic understanding of Azure cloud services, relational database design principles, performance tuning, and optimization.
• Strong analytical skills related to working with both structured and unstructured datasets.
• Proficiency in SQL, ETL/ELT processes/tooling, and data modeling.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with developers for requirements gathering.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Information Science, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.

Travel Requirements

Travel will be required up to 5%.

Work Schedule

This position entails a 9-hour workday from Monday to Thursday and a 4-hour workday on Friday. The role requires presence in The Woodlands office on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.
