Job Description Summary: Bill Me Later, Inc., a solely-owned subsidiary of PayPal, Inc., is looking for a Data Scientist 1 in San Jose, CA: Job Duties: Coordinate with Synchrony Financial to conceptualize, design, and monitor credit risk management strategies to enhance business profitability in consumer lending. Analyze customer-based information to determine the effectiveness of credit policies and suggest needed adjustments to boost profitability. Use data and procedures to enhance risk management strategies and customer experience. Evaluate the effect of strategic changes on delinquency and credit losses. Study portfolio trends and convey brief and actionable business strategies from large amounts of internal and external data. Present new strategy proposals to senior management for approval. Telecommuting is permitted: work can be done from anywhere in the U.S. Job Description: Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree or an international equivalent in Computer Science, Business Analytics, Economics, or a closely related discipline and a year of experience in the job offered or a similar field. Special Skill Requirements: 1. Machine learning (model development/deployment; optimization including parameter tuning, dimension reduction, feature selection, and model validation) 2. Predictive analytics and segmentation (CHAID analysis, regression models, and statistical analysis) 3. Experimental design (A/B testing) 4. Profit & Loss (P&L) analytics and loss forecasting 5. Credit risk management (Development and implementation of acquisition and portfolio management strategies) 6. Credit bureau analytics 7. Python (pandas, numpy, and sklearn packages) 8. SQL tools: Google Big Query and Teradata 9. Data visualization (Tableau, Amplitutde, and Q-monitor) 10. Database management: Big data and cloud (Hadoop, Hive, Stampy, Teradata, and Google Big Query) Additional Job Description: Base Salary: $107,682 – $147,400 annually. 40 hours a week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. PayPal is dedicated to fair and equitable compensation practices.
