We are seeking a Data Scientist (4497) to work in Ispra, Italy.

Job Responsibilities
- Implement, maintain and use indices and indicators for monitoring and forecasting drought/heatwaves.
- Develop and maintain tools for monitoring drought/heatwaves and their impacts.
- Coordinate and review ad-hoc technical documentation.
- Analyze ongoing drought events, heatwaves and their impacts.
- Support on data preparation, processing, and analysis.
- Interact with the scientific experts, other IT professionals, customers, users, project leader.
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of specific expertise in GIS tools - e.g., ArcGIS, ArcGIS Server.
- Minimum of 3 years of specific expertise in statistical software - e.g. R.
- Very good knowledge of data analysis and visualization tools and environment (e.g. R and Python).
- Capacity to work and deliver efficiently and quickly.
- Ability to deliver business and technical presentations.
- Ability to apply high quality standards.
- Adaptability to fast changing technologies and formats used in data analysis.
- Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Problem solving skills.
- Capability to write clear and structured technical documents.
- Ability to participate in technical meetings and good communication skills.
In view of the unique nature of a large international organization such as the European Commission, candidates should also possess the following non-technical skills:
- Ability to integrate in an international/multicultural environment, rapid self-starting capacity and experience in team working.
- Ability to participate in multilingual meetings.
- Experience in working in multi-cultural settings, on multiple large projects.
- Excellent team player.
- Ability to understand, speak and write English at B2 level.
- Knowledge of Spanish/Portuguese/French would be beneficial.
- A high degree of discretion and integrity is required.
