Role Overview: Senior/Staff Data Scientist

As a Senior/Staff Data Scientist at BioRender, you will be a crucial part of our Data organization. This role involves shaping our strategic roadmap, developing robust data foundations, and tackling high-impact projects that encourage long-term success. You will liaise closely with our Data Engineering team to champion user-driven insights, empowering BioRender to further its growth.

This is an opportunity to leverage your skills in analytics, reporting, and data visualization. Your responsibilities will also include ETL processes, dbt, and data model designing. Through your expertise, you will enhance our team’s prowess in statistics and best practices, while actively participating in defining processes, recruiting, mentoring, and expanding our data science team.

What You Will Achieve

In Your First 3 Months:

  • Understand the stakeholders and establish a continuous engagement cycle with them.
  • Master our existing KPIs and data modeling practices while identifying areas for enhancement.
  • Contribute to defining and modeling at least 1-2 company core KPIs, and refining our dashboards.

In Your First 6 Months:

  • Lead analyses and develop dashboards for key stakeholders.
  • Influence our quarterly planning by contributing valuable insights across various projects.

In Your First Year:

  • Significantly advance our use of dbt environments and assist in migrating to more scalable data analytics solutions.
  • Play a pivotal role in hiring and onboarding junior team members, establishing best practices for data utilization and visualization.
  • Empower BioRender with self-service analytics capabilities to meet diverse data requests.

Who We Are Looking For:

Candidates should bring a rich background in data analytics with over 6 years of post-academic experience, ideally involving direct collaboration with non-technical stakeholders. Proficiency in SQL and familiarity with popular data visualization tools like Metabase, Mode, Tableau, or Looker is essential. Experience with data warehousing tools such as dbt and understanding of ETL principles will be highly beneficial.
