Role and Responsibilities

As a Data Scientist 2, you will use your expertise in mathematics, statistics, modeling, business analysis, and technology to transform complex, high-volume data into advanced analytic solutions. Your work assignments will be varied and often require independent interpretation and decision-making.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and contributing to Generative AI initiatives using state-of-the-art LLMs.
  • Balancing software development, statistical thinking, and business understanding to deliver effective solutions.
  • Understanding department, segment, and organizational strategies and objectives.
  • Making informed decisions regarding work methods, even in ambiguous situations.
  • Following established guidelines and procedures.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree with 4 years of technical experience or Master's Degree with 2 years of technical experience.
  • Experience with NLP and LLMs (Hugging Face, OpenAI, Langchain, etc.).
  • Proficiency in Python and PySpark.
  • Experience in building applications and deploying products into production.
  • Expertise in developing, maintaining, and analyzing structured and unstructured data sets.
  • Ability to create reports, projections, models, and presentations to support business needs.
  • Strong understanding of strategic organizational objectives and linkages to related areas.
  • Capability to make independent decisions regarding work methods.

Preferred

  • PhD in a related field.

Work at Home Guidance

To ensure effective work from home, associates must have a minimum download speed of 25 Mbps and upload speed of 10 Mbps. Wireless, wired cable, or DSL connections are suggested. Satellite, cellular, and microwave connections require leadership approval. California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota-based associates receive a bi-weekly internet expense payment.

Humana will provide necessary telephone equipment and requires a dedicated, interruption-free workspace to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this full-time (40 hours per week) role is $86,600 - $119,200 per year, subject to variation based on location, skills, experience, and education. This role is also eligible for a bonus incentive plan based on company and/or individual performance.
