Expedia Group, a global leader in the travel industry, is looking for a passionate Data Scientist I to enhance our Competitive Intelligence team's capabilities. This role is pivotal in leveraging advanced analytics to drive strategic decisions and maintain our competitive edge in the market.

Role Overview:

As part of our Competitive Intelligence team, you will:

• Contribute proactively to cross-functional teams including Product, Strategy, Operations, and Supply Partners to diagnose complex problems and identify trends.
• Apply your expertise in quantitative analysis, data mining, and the art of presentation to directly improve our competitive positioning with actionable insights.
• Design and automate scalable reports and dashboards for performance metrics, aiding in the development of monthly and quarterly scorecards.
• Handle data extraction from various sources to prepare datasets essential for model building or advanced analytics.

Who We’re Looking For:

• At least 1 year of experience in data science or a similar field, with a strong foundation in data analytics or insights.
• A Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Data Science, or equivalent practical experience. Additional data certifications are advantageous.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, or R, with strong business acumen linking data insights to business strategies.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex concepts clearly and persuasively to various stakeholders.
• Experience with visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI is desirable.

Compensation and Benefits:

For the Austin location, the total cash range is $112,000 to $156,500 annually, with potential growth up to $179,000 based on performance. The Seattle range is $86,000 to $120,500, with potential up to $137,500.
