Job Description

We are searching for an expert who can process and analyse large datasets of weather and climate model data to develop new services for customers across Statkraft.

Your team:

The Water, Weather, and Climate team at Statkraft comprises 25 experts in hydrology and meteorology of various backgrounds. We all work together to provide consistent data for a wide range of uses within Statkraft, such as operational forecasts for production optimization, price forecasting, spot power sales, and various trading activities. Our data also assists in long-term strategic work within Statkraft and for investments in new power plants. You will work in close collaboration with colleagues worldwide. As our team is involved in various research and development activities within hydrology and meteorology, we are now experiencing increasing demand for our services in the company.

This position is part of a newly-founded section of meteorologists, climate experts, and data analysts who are developing climate and weather services for customers across Statkraft.

Your role:

  • Contribute to Statkraft’s growth by developing and delivering weather and climate services for wind, solar, and hydropower.
  • Create algorithms and models to make predictions using weather and climate data.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to solve intricate problems.
  • Provide analytical expertise to support power production and long-term strategic decisions.
  • Effectively communicate complex topics and results.

Qualifications

Your profile:

  • Master’s degree or higher in natural sciences, with a preference for geoscience, informatics or statistics. Experience in analysing large and diverse weather and climate datasets is beneficial.
  • Experience in solving complex problems using Python.
  • Competency and experience with modelling, statistical analyses, and usage of spatial datasets.
  • Experience with software development principles and agile methodology.
  • Flexibility in tackling the variety of problems that need to be solved at any given time.
  • Team player who can build strong relations and communicate well across disciplines and organizations.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and preferably Norwegian.
