Responsibilities

As a Data Scientist at FM Global, your primary focus will be translating business requirements into actionable analytics, and using sophisticated technologies and artificial intelligence to solve complex business problems. This role will allow you to innovate and develop AI solutions for FM Global. You'll apply advanced statistics, machine learning, and deep learning techniques to enhance loss prevention strategies.

You'll join an innovative and diverse team of data and analytics professionals, collaborating with multiple departments such as operations, innovation, technology transformation, underwriting, and engineering. You'll continuously learn, innovate, and collaborate to make a significant impact on FM Global's loss prevention mission, while advancing your career.

Utilizing creativity and a wide array of tools and techniques, you'll plan, conduct, and guide the development and evaluation of large-scale, real-world problems using AI/ML with minimal supervision. Your projects will be both challenging and exciting, leveraging statistics to support FM Global's goals.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Ph.D. in Statistics or Biostatistics with 2+ years of industry experience or a Master’s degree with 5+ years of industry experience

Technical Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience in data processing, statistical analysis, and modeling using tools such as Python, R
  • 3+ years of experience in processing large datasets using SQL
  • Advanced knowledge in Generalized Linear Models, Model Regularization, Probability Distributions, Hypothesis Testing, Statistical Inference, Machine Learning, Simulation, Experiment Design, and Non-Parametric Statistics

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in leading full-cycle data science projects
  • Background in risk management and/or property insurance

Compensation, grade, and job title will be based on qualifications, experience, and technical skills.
