Job Description

The Red Gate Group is seeking a Data Scientist to aid The Future Experience (TEF) office within the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) in Springfield, VA. In this position you will perform the following tasks:

• Use extensive knowledge to integrate, create, and maintain analytical models, visual aids, and tools to assess, study, and communicate internal/external user behavior and overarching enterprise or portfolio performance.

• Offer statistical and mathematical assistance in aiding the analysis and interpretation of a diverse range of data to understand and enhance the customer's experience.

• Exploit a variety of data sources (e.g., Web traffic, customer requests for information, survey responses, production databases, etc.) to understand what fuels a positive customer experience.

• Provide insights that will be leveraged to shape decisions and agency operational strategies, in collaboration with teams exploring website design, customer interactions, highlighted content, and future products and services.

• Apply business analytics and customer segmentation methodologies in any corporate function, e.g. marketing analytics, consumer analytics, operations analysis, human capital analytics, or other relevant fields.

• Maintain, shift, and manipulate data between applications, using suitable software/code: Apache Spark, ElasticSearch, R, Python, Kibana, and others as technology progresses.

• Develop an agile analytics process that delivers better insights into ongoing analytic/data visualization activities.

• Manage a catalogue of deployed dashboards, other analytical products, and current product backlog for implementation.

Qualifications

Required

  • Active TS/SCI
  • Evident experience in developing data analytics models and visual aids using proven industry standards in statistic/data science principles, practices, and techniques in business data analysis.
  • Proven experience in creating dashboards to effectively convey site metrics to non-technical audiences, to include but not limited to: conveying warnings and restrictions of both coding methods and statistical analyses depicting the current state and providing insight into improvement plan implementation strategies and milestone accomplishment.
  • Clear experience working with commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) statistical software or tools for data visualization (i.e., SPSS, SAS, MatLab, Tableau, etc.).
  • Confirmed experience in data mining, including the development, manipulation, or maintenance of databases.
  • Proven experience using computer programs, software, or a range of coding languages (i.e., Python, MySQL, D3, SPSS, SAS, Visual Basic, R, etc.) to summarize statistical data and create documents, reports, and presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently identify methods and techniques to expand and improve the analytic capacity and ability of an existing portfolio.

  • Manifest experience in effectively interacting with various partners, stakeholders, or customers on the value of statistical and data science methods including the strength of models/formulas, their limitations, warnings, and weaknesses in different applications.
  • Shown experience in adopting and participating in a knowledge-sharing culture to broaden the understanding of: advanced methods or niche statistical methods, and data science analytical methods and coding techniques including the basic understanding of model/formula strength, limitations, warnings and weaknesses when applied to various concepts.
