About Value Engineering Group

The Value Engineering Group at BHP is pivotal in leveraging, identifying, and infusing value-enhancement and performance-boosting methodologies throughout BHP's asset value chain.

Comprising an agile team of data scientists, analysts, simulation experts, and engineers, we employ a synergistic approach to scrutinize BHP’s entire asset life cycle. Our goal is to pinpoint, assess, and suggest strategies to enhance asset capability and performance across various timelines. Engage in an empowering role where you collaborate closely with our analytics and simulation leaders, operational experts, and specialists, all dedicated to steering BHP towards optimized improvement outcomes.

About the Role

We are excited to announce opportunities for a 6-month Secondment/Fixed Term, with potential for extension, for Specialist Data Analysts poised to influence global projects through innovative analytics and operational insights.

In the Value Analytics team, you will work in concert with other specialists in a dynamic, problem-solving environment to tackle some of BHP’s most challenging issues.

Reporting to the Lead Value Analytics, your responsibilities will include:

  • Scouting for business and performance improvement opportunities across BHP’s value chain.
  • Close collaboration with stakeholders to sharply define pertinent business challenges.
  • Utilizing structured approaches to solve complex issues.
  • Programming and analytics across various platforms and technologies.
  • Transforming data into actionable insights to drive performance enhancements.
  • Articulating ideas, results, and recommendations persuasively across all levels of the organization.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Proven experience in data science and analytics.
  • An academic background in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Robust analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities with a practical, strategic orientation.
  • Proficiency in Python for a variety of computational and data analysis tasks.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • A disciplined approach to project execution.
  • Openness to exploring and advocating innovative solutions beneficial to business progression.

Valuable but not essential:

  • Experience in mining, resources, or heavy industries.
  • Background in engineering or management consulting.
