Your team: The Chief Data Analytics Office (CDAO) offers specialized data services and platforms for the CommBank group and is responsible for developing the Group’s data strategy, data policy & standards, governance and requirements for data enablers and tools. Your reporting lines: This role reports to a Chapter Lead - Solution Design in the Business Domain within CDAO and is a key member of the team responsible for all solution design work. In your role as a Solution Designer, you will need to build and maintain efficient relationships with: - Key Stakeholders including the Product Owner - Delivery Leads including Project Managers/ Solution Delivery Managers - Engineers - Solution Architects - System SMEs - Business Teams - Other Solution Designers - Data Owner / Data Steward Your responsibilities: You are expected to carry out the following tasks and responsibilities in a manner that aligns with CBA's Values and People Capabilities: Core Responsibilities: - Work closely with the Architecture team for delivery in accordance with the agreed architecture, High Level Solution Designs, and Information Strategy. - Collaborate with the Operations teams to consider aspects of quality, performance and stability before a solution is designed. - Deliver high quality, detailed design for CDAO projects, in line with group reference architecture. - Ensure that the design meets customers’ short-term and long-term business needs and is compliant with governance. - Provide technical design services which might include dimensional modeling, staging areas, Business Access Layers, semantic layer design, ETL design, data labs considerations, table and view optimization, aggregation, materialization, and performance considerations. - Make design decisions, which may include the choice of reporting tool or cubes, static delivery vs interactive reports, extracts vs runtime lookups, security methods, archiving methods, on-platform execution vs data shipping to platforms such as Pega for deaccessioning, BI Tools like Tableau, OBIEE. - Provide functional and technical direction for Analytics and BI projects and influence on appropriate solution design. - Promote and embed design patterns, standards, and guidelines across CDAO projects and programs. - Collaborate with project managers, Business analysts, developers, and the testing team to ensure that approved designs are implemented. - Provide design patterns that are reusable, simple, and robust that comply with CDO and Information architecture principles and standards and gain approval of the design patterns at the appropriate ES councils. - Participate in BI and Information Architecture forums and councils to advise and influence in the formulation of design principles and standards. - Effectively develop and manage relationships for CDO projects with Solution Designers from other Enterprise Services teams. Your skills & experience: Skills: - Stakeholder management – advanced ability and extensive experience managing large and diverse stakeholder groups across levels, and influencing group-wide change. - Leadership – advanced ability to influence varied stakeholder groups, and inspire a large, diverse group of data and analytics professionals around a vision and a unified way to consume data. - Communication – expert oral and written communication skills with the ability to lead discussions with a wide range of stakeholders across levels. - Problem solving – advanced conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills to analyze complex information for key insights and present meaningful information to senior management. - Risk Mindset –All CommBank employees are expected to proactively identify, understand, discuss openly, and act on current and future risks. Experience: - 5-10 years’ experience in design, architecture, or development in Analytics and Data Warehousing. - Experienced in leading discussions and presentations, and in driving decisions across groups of stakeholders. - Extensive experience with Teradata data warehouses and Cloudera Hadoop. Proficient across Enterprise Analytics/BI/DW/ETL technologies such as Teradata Control Framework, Tableau, OBIEE, SAS, Apache Spark, Hive. - Desirable to have Cloud environment experience and knowledge of Snowflake. - 2-5 years of experience in Data Modelling, Dimensional, Star and Non-Dimensional Schemas. Exposure to industry-standard models like FSLDM / IBM IFW DW is advantageous. - Appreciative knowledge of Analytics & BI Architecture and broad experience across all technology disciplines, including project management, IT strategy development, and business process, information, application and business process. - Experience in working within a Solution Delivery Life Cycle framework & Agile Methodology. - Extensive experience in large enterprise environments handling large volume datasets with High Service Level Agreements (SLAs). - Experience in creating reusable group data assets. Your qualifications: Essential: - A degree in Engineering / Computer Science or a related discipline. - Experience across Enterprise BI/Big Data/DW/ETL technologies such as Teradata, Hadoop, Tableau, SAS, Hyperion or Business Objects. - Knowledge of Data Modelling Patterns. - Competence in BI Architecture and broad experience across all technology disciplines, including project management, IT strategy development, and business process, information, application and business process. - Experience in working within a Solution Delivery Life Cycle framework. - Proven experience in leading discussions and presentations, and in driving decisions across groups of stakeholders. - Extensive experience in large enterprise environments handling large volumes of datasets with High Service Level Agreement(s). Desirable: - 5+ years’ experience gained in a financial Institution, or Insurance provider, is preferred. Experience with a large Telecommunications company or government department would suffice. - Experience in driving compliance when work is undertaken by external technology partners. - Experience in Design using Ab Initio, AWS/Cloud Services. - Possession of recognized industry certifications.
