About This Role

At Micron, a Data Scientist is instrumental in harnessing the power of data. You will:

  • Develop innovative machine learning and statistical techniques for state-of-the-art data products such as predictive analytics and decision automation systems.
  • Utilize extensive and diverse Big Data sets from our technology development and manufacturing teams.
  • Apply advanced methods in mathematics, statistics, semiconductor physics, materials science, and IT to create predictive models and actionable insights.

What We Need From You

We are looking for someone with:

  • A strong passion for working with machine learning algorithms and handling vast datasets in a highly automated industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience in statistical modeling, feature extraction and analysis, and learning methodologies (supervised, unsupervised, and semi-supervised).
  • Proficiency in Python and/or R, with additional experience in pySpark, SparkR, or SparklyR being advantageous.
  • Familiarity with databases and tools such as SQL, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, HBase, Snowflake, TensorFlow, and pyTorch.
  • A background in software development, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Additional preferences include experience in the semiconductor industry, exposure to Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), and involvement with significant data science publications or conferences.

Educational Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A B.S. degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical, Electronics, Chemical, or Physics.
  • An M.S. or Ph.D. with specialization in Data Analytics, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, or Computer Science is preferred.
