Position Summary: Samsung Electronics' Distributed AI group, located in Cambridge, UK, is excited to offer the opportunity for a skilled Machine Learning Engineer to become part of our innovative team. This role involves collaboration with our adept scientists and engineers across various projects encompassing embedded/distributed ML, communications, and robotics. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in evolving research concepts into tangible outcomes, such as demonstrations and viable products.

Role and Responsibilities

As a valued member of our team, you will engage in the technical and systematic deployment of embedded/distributed/mobile ML systems, targeting sophisticated research initiatives and practical applications in vision and language technologies. This position not only allows you to contribute to scholarly articles and patents but also offers abundant opportunities for cross-group cooperation. We are looking for a versatile professional, a "jack of all trades" in MLSys, deeply knowledgeable in system design, architecture, and ML systems' operational frameworks.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • An MS or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proficiency in ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, and JAX, including advanced techniques like quantisation and sparsification.
  • Experience with deploying technologies on embedded and mobile platforms, as well as managing distributed and multi-GPU training at scale.
  • Fluency in Python, C/C++, and GNU Linux environments.
  • Strong teamwork capabilities.

Additional beneficial skills include:

  • Hands-on experience in networking, system deployment, and maintenance in distributed settings.
  • Practical knowledge in deploying computer vision technologies in scenarios such as AR/VR, smart homes, and robotics, among others.
  • Deep experience in large-scale NLP research from initial data collection to model optimization.
  • Familiarity with the Android Operating System and Android app development, or Robot Operating System (ROS).

Job Details and Employee Benefits

This is a permanent position based in Cambridge, UK. We support a hybrid working model, accommodating 3 days on-site and 2 days of remote work per week, if preferred. Remuneration includes a competitive salary, performance bonus up to 10%, and comprehensive benefits such as a pension scheme, income protection, life assurance, and more.
