We are seeking a leader for our Machine Learning Engineering team, which is introducing cutting-edge Machine Learning and AI technology to Figma’s top-notch design and collaboration products. You will spearhead a team conducting fundamental and applied research in this domain, integrating industry best practices and a first-principles approach to design and construct ML models and infrastructure to enhance Figma's offerings. You will build, lead, and support a top-tier team of ML Engineers to bring this inventive research to a new space and assist Figma users worldwide. This position can be held full-time from one of our US locations or remotely within the United States. Responsibilities at Figma: - Supervise a team of ML Engineers conducting fundamental and applied research in ML/AI. You and your team will probe the boundaries of current technology. - Recruit and cultivate a top-notch team of engineers. - Merge industry best practices with a first-principles approach in designing and building ML models and infrastructure. - Collaborate with other product and infrastructure engineers to boost Figma’s design and collaboration products. Qualifications: - 8+ years of experience in machine learning, recommendation systems, natural language understanding/generation, or artificial intelligence. - 2+ years of experience managing high-performing engineering and/or applied research teams. - Experience in building and implementing ML models within widely used products and services. - Advanced education in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or relevant technical field OR significant relevant experience. - Proficiency in communicating and working across functions to drive solutions. - Experience mentoring/influencing senior engineers across organizations. - Proven track record of planning multi-year roadmap where shorter-term projects align with the long-term vision. Based in Figma’s San Francisco or New York offices, the annual base salary range for this role is $233,000—$372,000 USD.
