About Us:

At Parafin, our mission is to grow small businesses. Small businesses form the core of our economy, but banks don't sufficiently support them. Parafin is a tech company that constructs structure allowing easy access for small businesses to financial services via their selling platforms.

Parafin's pioneering product provides capital-as-a-service for online platforms. Currently, it empowers the capital programs of platforms ranging from Series B to post-IPO companies like DoorDash, Amazon, and Worldpay. We are a closely knit group of engineers and designers, with former experiences at organizations like Stripe, Square, Plaid, Coinbase, Robinhood, Affirm, Uber, and CERN. We're enthused about assisting hundreds of thousands of small businesses to flourish as well as creating products that leaders at top companies use daily.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• You will convert unstructured business opportunities into data science problems and design plans for analysis, metric development, and modeling.

• You will create roadmaps for areas of work, scope related projects, and lead execution mainly through personal contribution and also by leveraging other team members.

• You will pinpoint new, high-impact opportunities for the data science team to drive the business forward with new data sets, models, processes, and team members.

• You will apply tools appropriate to the stage and impact of the problem at hand, these might be heuristic rules, inferential techniques, or machine learning.

• You will aid in scaling the Parafin team by hiring remarkable talents.

What We’re Searching For:

• You are an effective all-rounder who partners well with engineering, product, and business functions.

• You have deep experience in at least one area of data science.

• You communicate very effectively with both technical and non-technical partners.

• You have a thorough understanding of statistics and the basics of machine learning.

• You place deep value on the quality and accuracy of your work.

• You show initiative and can drive large projects independently.

• You are comfortable managing conflicting and shifting priorities.

• You are enthusiastic about working on a small team and laying the groundwork for data science at Parafin.

• You are proficient in Python.

• You hold a graduate degree in statistics, engineering, math, computer science, or a related technical discipline.

We Prefer If You Have:

• Experience with credit risk modeling

• Experience with time series

• Experience with SQL and Python

• A PhD
