As an Expert Machine Learning Engineer supporting Research and Development, you'll be tasked with designing, developing, and operationalizing machine learning systems to augment our digital product portfolio with AI/ML-enabled technology. Your typical day will include:

• Designing and implementing scalable Machine Learning systems with an in-depth understanding of Machine Learning Life Cycle and Phases.
• Hands-on experience in implementing a range of ML algorithms across different tools on AWS, and building end-to-end pipelines in AWS SageMaker and/or Domino Platform.
• Working closely with Data Scientists and other stakeholders to ascertain the requirements and optimal implementation strategy for these algorithms.
• Collaborating with DevOps engineers, Data engineers to build scalable ML Pipelines.
• Leveraging and linking to data platforms for algorithm training on the cloud and retraining models upon data triggers.
• Building tools for monitoring and logging to supervise model performance and trigger retraining upon model degradation or data drift.
• Architecting ML Pipelines to adhere to MLOps cluster hosting requirements to efficiently manage scalable model endpoints in Production.
• Extending and customizing existing ML libraries and frameworks and executing on Alcon’s unique ML Platform to support, when required, R&D portfolio projects.

What you'll bring to Alcon:

Key Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience.
• The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English.
• 5 Years of Relevant Experience

Preferred Requirements:

• Familiarity with machine learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch/Tensorflow/Keras) and libraries (e.g., SKLearn/XGBoost) and integrating them into Cloud-based ML applications.
• Familiarity with AWS stack such as Sagemaker suite, ECS, EKS, CodeCommit, CodePipeline, CodeDeploy, EC2, S3, AWSCLI, Lambda, and Glue, is preferred.
• Strong understanding of Design patterns, experience in Event-driven architecture, microservices, and container orchestration tools, such as Docker, Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform/CloudFormation), Model Training, Model Deployment, Model Registry, CI/CD, Model Monitoring tools is a plus (Kubeflow, MLFlow, Seldon Core, KServe, Airflow, Jenkins, etc).
