Job Description

Your Impact

As an FSI Data Scientist, you will identify complex fraud patterns through data mining, graph data science, and developing internal investigative software. Your research aims to connect disparate fraud trends, track threats across the enterprise, and support PayPal’s Global Financial Crimes organization by enhancing fraud risk controls, recovering funds from bad actors, and furnishing timely intelligence data to pinpoint abusive activity on the platform.

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Develop and deploy algorithms for linking, clustering, and pattern recognition based on varied attributes.
  • Apply statistical methods to identify fraud patterns from multiple data points.
  • Create and select relevant features from raw data for use in FSI’s fraud linking framework.
  • Continuously improve the speed, reliability, and scalability of FSI tools.
  • Leverage partner teams’ investigative findings to rapidly deploy new fraud identification techniques.
  • Identify opportunities to extend FSI linking solutions with internal partners’ technology stacks for holistic fraud prevention.
  • Lead FSI’s engagement with PayPal’s data science and technology organizations.

What You Need to Bring

  • Skilled in performing exploratory data analysis to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies.
  • Proficient in cleaning and preprocessing large datasets to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Strong SQL experience to create, maintain, and optimize complex queries and database structures.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python with experience in string processing and pattern recognition libraries and tools.
  • Understanding of financially motivated cybercrime trends and typologies.
  • Team player, energetic personality, curiosity, and efficiency in a fast-paced, changing environment.
