Job Title: Genetics Data Scientist - REMOTE

Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this role include:

  • Building and refining predictive models for precision medicine diagnostics using AI and ML approaches.
  • Analyzing genetic, phenotypic, and multi-omic datasets using our precision medicine platform, Patient Seek.
  • Developing new analytical features for the Patient Seek precision medicine platform.
  • Coordinating with other researchers and external collaborators to ensure project progress is smooth and efficient.
  • Communicating results to the wider organization.
  • Ensuring record keeping and archiving of data is up-to-date and accurate.
  • Adhering to external data privacy policies.
  • Supporting business development activities when required.
  • Enhancing the company's reputation through publications and presentations at conferences.
  • Safeguarding genetic and biological intellectual property.

Experience and Skills Required

Essential

  • Ph.D. (or M.Sc. with relevant experience) in data science, biostatistics, bioinformatics, or equivalent field.
  • Experience with large biological datasets (omics, EHR, RWE, clinical phenotypes).
  • Proficiency in Machine Learning / Artificial Intelligence methods.
  • Knowledge of data privacy issues and requirements.
  • Familiarity with IT tools (e.g., cloud computing, AWS, Linux, HPC), programming languages (e.g., R, Python, SQL, bash), and version control management (e.g., git).
  • Highly self-motivated, flexible, and organized.
  • Ability to work independently while recognizing when to seek additional input.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Creative thinker with enthusiasm for innovation.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Bayesian statistical methods.
  • Experience modelling diverse datasets, particularly biological or clinical data.
  • Experience with longitudinal biological or clinical data.
  • Experience in a multi-disciplinary team within a biotech or pharma setting.
  • Project management experience.
  • Knowledge of immuno-inflammatory diseases (e.g., rheumatoid arthritis, IBD).
