Job Description
AECOM is actively looking for a highly skilled, dynamic technology-minded professional for immediate employment in the Raleigh, North Carolina office or anywhere in the nation. The Geospatial Data Scientist will report to the Mobile Technology & Remote Sensing Manager in the Technology Services Group and support both internal and external customers within the Environment Business line. This role will aid a broad range of AECOM projects including environmental permits, natural disaster recovery, environmental restoration, construction, site assessments, inspections, energy infrastructure development, water resources, transportation, and more. A suitable candidate will work both independently and in close coordination with various AECOM staff and project teams to develop, implement and support GIS and other Geospatial Data Science integral to successful project delivery.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Gather and review technical requirements to meet data collection, development standards and implement quality assurance procedures.
- Design, deploy and manage geospatial data collection reporting applications using data collected in ArcGIS Fields, Collector, Survey123, Workforce, and Dashboards within AGOL (ArcGIS Online).
- Prepare and roll out dashboard applications with R (Shiny), Power Bi, or Tableau
- Work with AI and Machine Learning leads to develop and implement geospatial analysis models.
- Use Python, Model Builder, Microsoft Power Automate, Microsoft Flow, and other commonly used scripting tools to automate workflows and streamline routine processes and tasks.
- Collaborate with team to manage and deploy data analytic reporting in addition to dashboarding.
- Maintain quality assurance of spatial and non-spatial data and operations as per defined standards.
- Keep up-to-date with existing and emerging GIS and data analytics-related software and technologies.
- Market GIS and data science and analytic services to internal and external clients.
- Apply attention to detail along with proactive and resourceful problem-solving abilities.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- BA/BS + 2 years of experience or shown equivalence of experience and/or education.
- Bachelor's Degree in GIS, Computer Science, Geography, Social Science, Environmental Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Unblemished Driver’s License and must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.
- Due to the nature of work, US citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Adept at applications like R (Shiny), Power Bi, or Tableau.
- Proficient with Python Bootcamp, Data Structures and Statistics, Data Visualization, and Machine Learning.
- Skilled at interactive web-based geospatial mapping applications using QGIS, R, Tableau, and GitHub to present data visualizations.
- Background or certificate in Data Science.
- Pertinent professional and progressively responsible experience in Geostatistics, GIS, and GIS mobile/web systems.
- Experience with ESRI’s ArcMap, ArcCatalog, ArcGIS Pro.
- Experience with ArcGIS Online (AGOL) or Enterprise GIS Systems.
- Experience with other Geospatial software’s such as GRASS, QGIS, etc.
- Comfortable working outdoors and/or traveling occasionally to support field activities.
- Aptitude for working in a fast-paced multitasking environment.
- Up-to-date understanding of existing and emergent geospatial software and technologies.
- Understanding of relational database organization, design, and functionality.
- Ability to learn and present best practices for data management including workflows, tools, governance models, and integration patterns.
- Demonstrated knowledge of cartographic design and production concepts and principles.
- FAA Part 107 sUAS Pilot Certificate and UAS flight experience.
- Proficient with UAS data processing applications such as Pix4D Mapper, Pix4DMatic, Agisoft Metashape, and cloud-based platforms like DroneDeploy.

The offered rate of compensation ([insert state] locations only) will be founded on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $55,000 - $60,000.
