Hardware Software Integration Engineer - System Design at Zoox

Join Zoox's Hardware Software Integration team and ensure the seamless operation of our cutting-edge vehicle platforms. As a Prototype Engineer, you’ll design and develop custom hardware solutions based on high-level requirements, leveraging existing electronic control units. Create prototypes, design custom PCBs and harnesses, and prepare detailed documentation to facilitate volume production handoff.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop hardware prototypes using Automotive CAN and Ethernet, focusing on circuit analysis and PCB layouts.
• Utilize Altium Designer for schematic capture, PCB design, high-quality standards, and manage component selection and order processing.
• Collaborate with technicians on mounting fixtures, harness building, PCB assembly, reworking, and testing.
• Conduct thorough testing and validation of hardware designs, and generate detailed documentation for replicability and manufacturability in volume production.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in hardware design, including PCB layout, and prototype development with proficiency in Altium Designer or similar software.
• Familiarity with the complete PCB fabrication and assembly process, and the ability to identify schematic issues and select optimal components.
• Strong programming skills in Python for developing software solutions and debugging hardware issues.
• Excellent project management and documentation skills.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience using Linux as a development environment for hardware-software integration and testing.
• Experience with automotive communication standards such as CAN and Ethernet.
• Familiarity with network interfaces and protocols, specifically IP, VLAN, and routing.

Compensation

Compensation for this role includes:

• Salary range of $178,000 to $222,000, varying based on geographic location and level.
• Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights.
• Potential sign-on bonus as part of the compensation package.

The compensation includes a comprehensive benefits package with paid time off, health, long-term and short-term disability, and life insurance.
