What You’d Be Doing in This Role

As Canva scales, change continues to be part of our DNA. Here are some key responsibilities you'll take on as a Senior Product Design Manager - Discovery Group:

  • Coaching and Leadership: Lead a team of 5 Product Designers, providing coaching, feedback, and guidance to support their growth.
  • Vision and Strategy: Define the design vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Discovery Group, collaborating with senior stakeholders.
  • Scaling the Product Design Team: Plan for future design resourcing needs within your team.
  • Shaping Design Processes: Drive design best practices for greater impact and efficiency across the team.
  • Prioritization: Collaborate with Product Managers and Engineering Leads to ensure prioritization of the most valuable features.
  • Research: Support teams in diving into competitors, trends, patterns, best practices, UX design inspiration, and user/business insights.
  • Partnering with Leadership: Play a key role in shaping the strategy and goals of the supergroup and Product Design specialty.

You're Probably a Match If You Have

  • End-to-End Product Design Experience: 8-10 years as a Product Designer, Interaction Designer, or Researcher, with experience in leading projects within Discovery or Applied AI being a plus.
  • Leadership Experience: 3+ years managing a team of Product Designers, nurturing their development and growth.
  • Technical Collaboration Experience: Worked closely with engineers and data scientists to integrate machine learning and other technologies.
  • Effective Communication Skills: Capable of simplifying complex concepts and confidently presenting them to the broader team.
  • A Data-Driven Approach: Leveraged both quantitative and qualitative data to create beautiful experiences.
  • Experience in Global Markets: Understand designing for different languages and cultures.
  • Experience Working with Content Creators: Enjoy collaborating with graphic designers, videographers, and photographers.
