Junior Data Scientist Opportunity at Control Risks

Control Risks, a global risk consultancy, is seeking a highly skilled Junior Data Scientist to support a Fortune 500 client’s Investigations Enablement program. This role is ideal for individuals with a passion for data analysis and problem-solving.

Role Overview

As a Junior Data Scientist, you will be responsible for querying and analyzing extensive amounts of complex and disparate data to derive actionable insights. You will interpret business needs, create innovative data solutions, and troubleshoot issues both known and unknown.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform investigative data analysis, including data reconciliation across multiple systems.
• Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for data gathering and system searches.
• Monitor and resolve regular control reports and perform trade quality control reviews and enhancements.
• Analyze potential sanctions and ensure compliance requirements are met.
• Utilize problem-solving and analytical skills to authenticate customers effectively.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

• 0-3 years of experience in Data Analytics, Data Science, or Investigative Analysis.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• The ability to adapt in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in MS SQL Server-based analysis, including ETL, complex joins, functions, stored procedures, and loops.
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI and Tableau.
• Experience in detecting deficiencies in controls, fraud, or non-compliance with laws, regulations, and management policies.
• Skills in assessing data integrity, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and explaining the impact on decisions/assumptions.
• Ability to examine and evaluate processes and information systems, recommending controls to ensure reliability and data integrity.

Compensation and Benefits

Control Risks offers a competitive salary and benefits package, detailed in the full job offer. We operate a discretionary bonus scheme that rewards individuals based on company and personal performance. The base salary range for this position in California is $75,000-$80,000 per year, with exact compensation varying based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This information is provided in accordance with California SB 1162.
