About the Role

We are seeking a customer-centric, strategic, and analytical Lead Data Engineer. This role requires technical expertise, experience with large-scale platforms, and a passion for building innovative solutions.

Job Responsibilities

As a Lead Data Engineer, you will:

  • Support the Director of Finance Technologies in strategic transformation programs and initiatives.
  • Design strategic engineering architecture, allocate resources, and monitor platform performance.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor a high-performing, multi-functional team.
  • Build scalable systems on Hadoop, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), SAP HANA Ecosystems, S/4 HANA, FI/CO.
  • Participate in code reviews and guide the team in engineering best practices, with a focus on writing production-quality code.
  • Provide technical leadership across multiple platforms, including Unix, Python, Big Data systems, GCP, Hadoop, SAP HANA, API, and Java.
  • Evaluate requirements, create functional and solution architectures, and ensure proper implementation.
  • Provide direction to implementation teams across local, near-shore, and offshore locations.
  • Deliver high-quality services while balancing production platform stability, feature delivery, and technical debt retirement.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • An undergraduate degree in Engineering or a related field; a Master's or MBA is preferred.
  • 8+ years of post-college experience as a developer and architect in Engineering or Data-Mining organizations.
  • 5+ years of experience with DBMS and SQL.
  • 2+ years of experience with Cloud services and deployments.
  • 3+ years of experience across multiple platforms (Java, Big Data systems, GCP, Hadoop, SAP HANA Ecosystems).
  • A deep understanding of accounting standards such as IFRS and US-GAAP.
  • Experience in new asset accounting, revenue recognition, leading/non-leading ledger concepts, document splitting, and controlling modules.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work with considerable ambiguity.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
