Job Description
Join the team that is revolutionizing how the world experiences design.
Hello, greetings, welcome!
Thank you for your interest. We understand job searching can be time-consuming, so let's get right to the details.
Where and how you will work
Our main campus is located in Sydney, with branches in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide. However, you have the flexibility to work from the location and setting of your choice. Whether you prefer working in an office (if one is near your location), from home or some combination of both, the choice is yours.
Your responsibilities in this role
As Canva grows, change is a constant part of our DNA, but we find that exciting. The following list details your possible tasks but keep in mind that these may evolve.
Currently, this role involves:
- Mentoring and leading a team of data scientists and analytics engineers, fostering their professional development, and keeping them engaged and motivated
- Driving the data strategy within the group, coordinating closely with Product and Engineering Leads to propel initiatives. You identify areas where your team can have the most impact and ensure it happens
- Identifying insights that give us a deeper understanding of both Canva and our customers - we expect creativity and insight rather than sticking to conventional metrics
- Proposing and carrying out experiments to move our metrics - when we scale tests to 100%, we want to see a visible impact on the relevant graph
- Developing and maintaining dashboards for your group’s initiatives and ensuring they look appealing - you don’t need to be a designer, you just need to enjoy building impressive tools
- Owning projects, data models, dashboards, and other artifacts, keeping them updated and high quality in a fast-paced environment
- Using our extensive databases to answer challenging (and enjoyable!) questions
You're likely a good fit if you have:
- Evidence of leading data specialists, defining team strategy, and establishing data roadmaps
- Experience in communicating with data and dashboards, using them to guide decisions
- Experience working with frontend performance-based datasets
- Proficient skills in SQL; familiarity with data warehouses like Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery is a plus!
- Experience in handling and analyzing data using Python or R
- Experience in optimizing product funnels, conducting experiments, and creating dashboards that effectively display results and outcomes
- A background in mathematics/statistics and a bachelor's degree in a STEM field is preferred, but not required
- Experience with large datasets is highly desirable, but not required
- Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written - you can simplify complex topics into clear solutions and ideas. Effective stakeholder management skills are crucial for this role.
