Lead Research Scientist - Machine Learning for AI Chip Design

Location: Flexible - Zurich, Tokyo or North America. Sony AI is seeking highly motivated, self-driven individuals with expertise in machine learning research. We're looking for intelligent, enthusiastic people who want to join our team of globally renowned researchers as we push the boundaries of AI in support of human creativity. In this role, the successful candidate will lead our groundbreaking project from a machine learning technology perspective. Roles and Responsibilities: - Lead research programs applying machine learning to our flagship project - Supervise a team of research scientists and engineers - Formulate real-world problems into machine learning problems - Investigate new algorithms and approaches to solve AI problems - Write code to support research, usually in Python - Write reports and give presentations for internal audiences - Write papers for, and give presentations at academic conferences Skills & Experience: - Background in machine learning (PhD in related area) and relevant work experience with a track record of developing working systems, academic publications, patents, and/or open source software - Experience with state-of-the-art machine learning methods including graph neural networks, reinforcement learning and generative adversarial networks - Extensive post-degree experience - Leadership experience with a team of more than 5 research scientists or engineers - Knowledge of large scale analogue circuit development is a big plus - Experience in solving interdisciplinary problems - Management experience is a plus - A track record of implementing software in Python with major machine learning frameworks - Excellent oral and written English. German and/or Japanese language skills are a plus. Other experience: - The ability to deliver on tight deadlines and adapt to evolving or changing requirements - Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, and willingness to learn Japanese Preferred Major: - Computer Science or similar
