Key Responsibilities
As a Manager of Software Engineering, you will:
- Provide guidance to a team of software engineers on daily tasks and activities.
- Collaborate with line of business (LOB) users, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Architects, and Site Reliability Engineers (SRE) to design and implement appropriate solutions.
- Work with system administrators, users, and other development teams to manage enhancements and resolve issues.
- Set overall guidance and expectations for team output, practices, and collaboration.
- Anticipate dependencies with other teams to deliver products and applications in line with business requirements.
- Manage stakeholder relationships and ensure the team’s work complies with standards, SLA, and business requirements.
- Create a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect for team members while prioritizing diverse representation.
Required Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you need:
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts.
- 5+ years of development experience in large-scale distributed technology projects, preferably in a Big Data (Scala/Spark) environment.
- Experience at the code level and in leading technology projects.
- Experience managing technologists in high-pressure environments.
- Proficiency in AWS, EMR, and other Big Data-related technologies.
- Experience with log analytic tools like ELK, Splunk, etc.
- Expertise in Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and REST APIs.
- Capability to execute software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in creating secure and high-quality production code and maintaining algorithms.
- Advanced skills in automation and continuous delivery methods.
- Comprehensive understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Advanced knowledge of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security.
Preferred Skills
We prefer candidates who have:
- Familiarity with backend infrastructure including load balancing and auto-scaling.
- In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems.
