Peraton Labs is on the lookout for a talented Network Security Research Scientist to join our top-tier team. This role requires a full-time, onsite commitment of five days a week. As a network security research scientist, you will be tasked with developing innovative solutions to tackle real-world networking challenges. This role also involves taking responsibility for specific deliverables and collaborating closely with a small team of engineers, while also mentoring junior staff members.

Who We’re Looking For

We are seeking candidates with the following qualities:

  • Cybersecurity Enthusiast: Strong interest and track record in cybersecurity research and development.
  • Multi-Domain Expertise: Broad knowledge across multiple domains, with a focus on your specialty areas while maintaining strong multi-domain awareness and curiosity to learn new technologies.
  • Applied Research Ability: Work on applied research programs to develop prototypes for solving complex problems.

Qualifications

Required Skills

  • 2 years with BS/BA; 0 years with MS/MA; 6 years with no degree.
  • Advanced development skills in Python.
  • Hands-on development experience in cybersecurity.
  • Proficiency in modern development practices and toolsets (Git, Subversion, CI/CD toolchains).
  • Experience running Docker containers.
  • Expertise in developing and administering Linux, including using Bash.
  • Experience with networking protocols and configuring network devices.
  • Passion for continuous learning and staying up-to-date with field developments.
  • Strong independent problem-solving skills and an initiative-driven approach to finding solutions.
  • Ability to acquire a TS/SCI clearance and pass a polygraph.

Desired Skills

  • Expertise in one or more: C, C++, Java.
  • Ability to understand the "big picture" and see beyond specific problems.
  • Experience with network emulation frameworks like CORE, EMANE, and MiniNet.
  • Background in threat intelligence research.
  • Experience with SMT solvers.
  • Current TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.

Salary Range

Target salary range: $112,000 - $179,000, based on experience and other factors.
