Position Overview

As a Principal Data Engineer within JPMorgan Chase's Corporate Investment Bank Payments AI/ML Team, you will collaborate across all lines of business to deliver innovative and efficient solutions. You will have the opportunity to research, experiment, develop, and bring to production high-quality machine learning models, data services, and platforms to achieve significant business results. Additionally, you will design and implement scalable and reliable data processing pipelines to generate valuable insights and optimize business performance. As part of your role, you will hire and lead a team of ML scientists to tackle impactful business problems at JPMorgan Chase.

Job responsibilities

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts with 10+ years of applied experience.
  • Collaborate with all lines of business and functions at JPMorgan Chase to deliver software solutions.
  • Experiment with, architect, develop, and bring to production data pipelines, data services, and data platforms that contribute to the business.
  • Design and implement highly scalable and efficient data processing pipelines while performing analysis to drive and optimize business results.
  • Identify and act on opportunities to converge physical, IT, and data security architecture to manage access.
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers and technologists.
  • Champion the firm’s culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts with 10+ years applied experience.
  • Proficiency in collaborating across business lines and functions to deliver software solutions.
  • Experience in architecting, developing, and bringing to production data pipelines, services, and platforms.
  • Expertise in designing and implementing scalable data processing pipelines with an emphasis on analysis to optimize business results.
  • Experience in managing access through the convergence of physical, IT, and data security architecture.
  • Skills in mentoring and coaching junior team members.
  • Advocacy for diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect within the workplace.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Experience with cloud computing platforms like Google Cloud, Amazon Web Service, Azure, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Proficiency in big data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, and Kafka.
  • Background in distributed system design and development.
