The Brand Design group at Datadog is a dynamic in-house creative team that forms part of the Marketing Department. We support internal teams, including Events, Demand Generation, Communications, and Partnership. Based in New York City with a team of 20 talented Designers and Illustrators, we deliver a variety of projects like ad campaigns, web design, event branding, signage, reports, and e-books.

About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic, organized, and assertive Data Visualization and Infographics Specialist to enhance and standardize Datadog’s visual language for data display. As part of the Brand Design team, you will collaborate with various stakeholders to evaluate current data visualization practices and recommend improvements. This role reports directly to the Creative Director of Brand Design.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Conduct an audit of data visualization practices within the company and Datadog product, identifying improvements.
  • Evaluate tools for creating engineering diagrams and develop component libraries for AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud architectures.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Product Design, Technical Community, Sales, and leadership to create impactful infographics and schematics.
  • Maintain a library of elements (icons, symbols, logos) for infographics and diagrams.
  • Exhibit a solid understanding of visual design disciplines such as typography, iconography, composition, layout, and color, particularly in report production involving numerous infographics.
  • Handle multiple projects and rapidly respond to last-minute creative changes.
  • Assist the Brand Design team in various design projects during peak workloads.

Qualifications

We are seeking candidates with:

  • 8 to 10 years of experience in Graphic Design and Data Visualization.
  • Editorial design experience is a plus.
  • Advanced skills in Adobe Illustrator and Creative Suite with a diverse and innovative portfolio.
  • Strong conceptual thinking ability to turn abstract ideas into meaningful schematics and infographics.
  • Advanced client-facing skills to analyze data, guide briefs, and develop art-directed diagrams.
  • Experience in creating and maintaining corporate style guides and brand systems.
  • Proficiency in tools for diagramming or engineering architecture drawings.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills with all company levels.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with attention to detail.
  • Adaptability to navigate ambiguous situations and identify solutions for ongoing project and process development.
  • Capability to master and align with Datadog Brand Guidelines.
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, and adaptable team player.

Salary and benefits packages at Datadog are competitive and may include variable compensation. Actual compensation is based on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience.
