The Cognitive Services team in the Azure AI organization is committed to advancing AI technology and realizing our vision for the future of intelligent cloud and intelligent edge. You will work within a prestigious team comprising top researchers focused on developing cutting-edge solutions in speech, computer vision, and natural language processing.

Internship Role: Computer Vision and Machine Learning

We are seeking passionate Research Interns who are eager to engage in both fundamental and applied research under the mentorship of Microsoft experts. In this role, you will prototype innovative solutions, demonstrate their applications, and publish your findings.

Responsibilities

As a Research Intern, you will:

  • Complete a 12-week internship, typically starting in the summer but available year-round.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a PhD program in computer vision, machine learning, AI, or a related field.
  • At least one year of research experience in computer vision, machine learning, and AI methodologies.
  • Ability to work on-site at a Microsoft worksite for the internship duration.
  • Submit at least two reference letters post-application submission.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with open-source tools like PyTorch and TensorFlow.
  • Knowledge of multimodal foundation models.
  • Publication(s) in top-tier conferences or journals (e.g., CVPR, ECCV, ICCV, NIPS, ICML, IJCV, PAMI).
  • Strong communication and writing skills.
  • Proficient in algorithmic problem-solving and software development (C/C++, Python).

Compensation and Benefits

The base pay range for this internship is between USD $6,290 and $12,170 per month. Specific locations such as the San Francisco Bay area and New York City may have different ranges, from USD $8,060 to $13,240 per month.
