The Algorithms group at Microsoft Research (MSR) in Redmond is actively seeking researchers to join our dynamic team. Key Responsibilities

  • Advance the state of the art in deep neural networks, including innovations in context length and attention mechanisms.
  • Develop innovative image models and algorithms for natural language processing and private learning.
  • Independently set your research agenda and collaborate effectively with both researchers and engineers to achieve breakthroughs.
  • Create proof of concepts that could be scaled and deployed to enhance Microsoft products used by billions globally.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD in computer science, mathematics, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong track record of research and publications.
  • Proficiency in deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch.
  • Ability to pioneer and lead research initiatives.
  • Excellent collaborative and communication skills.
  • Deep understanding of the internals of various deep learning tools, libraries, and frameworks.
  • Knowledge of language modeling and differential privacy in machine learning, like Opacus library.

Compensation and Benefits

The typical base pay range for this role varies significantly based on the location and other factors:

  • Across the U.S.: USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year.
  • San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area: USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
