This role is for a Senior Consultant level Machine Learning Engineer with solid development experience who will concentrate on creating new capabilities for Visa AI as a Service, while enhancing our codebase and development processes. In this position, you will be a passionate and talented developer who can work in a dynamic environment as part of Agile Scrum teams. Your strong technical leadership, problem-solving skills, coding, testing, and debugging capabilities are only the beginning. You must be dedicated to meeting product backlog expectations and delivering production-ready code. You must be a versatile individual prepared to tackle any given task.

Playing an integral part of the development team, you will identify new requirements, restructure existing functionalities for performance enhancement, and consistently strive to improve our efficiency and customer solutions. This role demands a self-organized individual with proficiency in web application and web service development. You will oversee hands-on activities, including design, documentation, development, and testing of new functionalities. Applicants must be flexible and ready to switch tasks based on the team's needs.

Essential Functions

  • Collaborate with project team members (Product Managers, Architects, Analysts, Software Engineers, Project Managers, etc.) to facilitate the development and execution of new data-driven business solutions.
  • Lead development efforts from beginning to end for timely delivery of top-quality solutions that adhere to requirements, align with the architectural vision, and comply with all applicable standards. Responsibilities include all phases of solution development.
  • Collaborate with senior technical staff and PM to identify, document, plan for contingencies, track, and manage risks and issues until fully resolved.
  • Present technical solutions, capabilities, considerations, and features in business terms. Communicate status, issues, and risks accurately and promptly.
  • Coach and mentor junior team members and nurture team talent pipeline.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • PhD degree in Computer Science or a related field and 5+ years of Machine Learning System Development Experience post-PhD.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expert in cutting-edge areas such as Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Stream Computing, , In-Memory Computing.
  • Expert in at least one of the following languages:  Golang, Java, Python, or C/C++
  • Expert in web service standards and associated patterns (REST, gRPC)
  • Expert in developing large-scale, enterprise-class distributed systems that require high availability, low latency, & strong data consistency.
  • Proficient in designing solutions with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery in mind
  • Proficient in distributed in-memory computing technologies like Redis
  • Experience with Big Data and general analytics, using technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, and MapReduce
  • Experience in the implementation of suitable metrics in software components to facilitate real-time and remote troubleshooting/performance monitoring.

Additional Information

Work Hours: Depends on the requirements of the department

Travel Requirements: This role requires 5-10% travel time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This role will be executed in an office environment.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and over the phone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

FOR U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated range for a new hire in this position is between $138,500.00 and $180,000.00 USD, including potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Actual salary may vary depending on job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, experience, and location. Additionally, this role may be eligible for bonuses and equity.
