What You'll Do:

Data Strategy

Understand, articulate, and apply data strategy principles to routine business problems involving a single function.

Data Transformation and Integration

• Extract data from identified databases.
• Create data pipelines and transform data using appropriate techniques.
• Stay updated with current data science and analytics trends.

Data Source Identification

• Support understanding of requirement priorities and service level agreements.
• Identify the most suitable source for data fit for purpose.
• Perform initial data quality checks on extracted data.

Data Modelling

• Analyze complex data elements, systems, data flows, dependencies, and relationships.
• Develop Logical and Physical Data Models, including data warehouse and data mart designs.
• Define relational tables, primary and foreign keys, and stored procedures.
• Evaluate existing data models and physical databases for discrepancies.
• Create efficient data flows and propose solutions for data integration challenges.
• Create training documentation and train end-users on data modeling.

Code Development and Testing

• Write code using the appropriate programming language.
• Create test cases to validate proposed solutions.
• Deploy software to production servers.
• Maintain code documentation and provide progress updates.

Problem Formulation

Translate business problems into data-related or mathematical solutions, recommend methods like analytics and automation, and demonstrate how they solve business problems.

Applied Business Acumen

• Provide recommendations to solve complex business issues.
• Develop business cases with projected ROI or cost savings.
• Translate business requirements into projects and tasks aligned with overall strategy.
• Recommend new processes and ways of working.

Data Governance

• Establish, modify, and document data governance projects.
• Implement data governance practices in collaboration with stakeholders.
• Educate others on data governance processes, policies, and guidelines.

Requirements:

Education and Experience:
Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field plus 1 year of experience in software engineering or related experience OR
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field plus 3 years of experience in software engineering or related experience.

Required Skills:

• Developing shell scripts in Linux/Unix environments for big data pipelines.
• Writing complex SQL queries for ETL scenarios and data issues.
• Experience with Hadoop Architecture and HDFS File system.
• Data Ingestion, Transformation, Tuning, and Validation using Scala, Spark, and Hive.
• Designing and building backend APIs using Java/Python.
• Continuous Integration and Deployment using Jenkins.
• Building dashboards with key KPIs using Tableau and Power BI.
• Developing batch processors for data extraction and transformation using Java.
• Agile methodology and Scrum principles using Jira.
• Creating entity relationship diagrams, logical data models, and mapping documents.
