Position Overview

Perchwell aims to become the fastest-growing MLS workflow and data platform in the country, with data being integral to our mission. We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer who will spearhead our data engineering projects, from creating a data lake and warehouse solution to expanding our existing infrastructure to incorporate numerous new MLSes in the coming months.

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams including Data Insights, Product, Design, and other engineering teams to build robust data solutions, contributing to Perchwell's goal of becoming the premier MLS workflow and data platform. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop ETL tooling and data pipelines to integrate data from 3rd party sources and APIs into our system.
  • Design and implement automated data governance measures to enhance data quality and observability.
  • Build team processes and a culture centered around ownership and accountability.
  • Collaborate with the Data Analyst team to conduct analyses, create dashboards, and perform quality assessments.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, including expertise in Python, SQL, or Kotlin.
  • Experience in building scalable and fault-tolerant data pipelines with data originating from 3rd party APIs for both batch and real-time use cases.
  • Expertise with ETL schedulers such as Airflow (preferred), Dagster, Prefect, or similar frameworks.
  • Experience with cloud architecture (preferably AWS) and technologies such as S3, SQS, RDS, EMR, Glue, Athena, and Lambda.
  • Proficiency in working with data warehouses like Snowflake (preferred), Redshift, or Google BigQuery.
  • Experience in building CI/CD pipelines using GitLab, GitHub Actions, Terraform, or Jenkins.
  • Familiarity with microservices architecture and cloud data lake implementations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

This role is based in our New York City office in Soho Manhattan, requiring at least 3 days per week of in-office work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications in AWS, Snowflake, or Elasticsearch.
  • Experience with Ruby on Rails.

The compensation for this position is $160-$190K base salary, plus equity and benefits. Currently, we are only considering candidates authorized to work in the U.S.
