About Your Role as a Senior Data Engineer, Finance

You’ll step into a high-impact position where you'll lead the design and management of financial data systems across all of Instacart's products. This role places you at the heart of our post-IPO financial data strategy, owning significant data integration pipelines and shaping future financial frameworks. If you have a robust background in data engineering with substantial experience in financial systems, this role is your chance to take ownership and drive substantial, company-wide initiatives.

Team Collaboration and Impact

Within the Infrastructure Engineering pillar, the Finance data engineering team collaborates extensively with the accounting, billing, and revenue teams. Your work will support vital processes such as the monthly and quarterly book closings, retailer invoicing, and both internal and external financial reporting. Your interaction with product teams will ensure critical data capture and integration, enhancing financial decision-making processes at Instacart.

Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications:

• Over 6 years of experience in Data/Software Engineering, specializing in building data pipelines.
• Expertise in SQL and proficient in Python.
• Proven track record of developing high-quality ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Experience with data frameworks concerning immutability, auditability, and slowly changing dimensions.
• Familiarity with cloud-based data technologies such as Snowflake, Databricks, Trino/Presto.
• Exceptional communication skills for driving cross-functional projects.
• A strong sense of ownership paired with a balanced approach to urgent, high-quality solution delivery.

Preferred Qualifications:

• A degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, and data quality tools like Great Expectations or Monte Carlo.
