Job Description
Main Role:
The Senior Data Modeler / Data Architect role is part of the Enterprise Analytics team at Intuitive. They will be responsible for collaborating with various business units to comprehend and model their data, to ensure data quality, data privacy and security, data integration, and data governance. These thoroughly documented and shared models will facilitate a company-wide consensus around the meaning of Intuitive’s data. They will have a passion for clear definitions, shared understanding, and a well-architected data platform and procedures to drive exceptional company success.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create, document, publish, and own the data models in a reporting and analytics environment.
- Offer data modeling design review and advice to business and engineering teams.
- Identify shared concepts across business units and ensure a single representation in the data model and platform.
- Establish tools and process for constant team productivity and improved quality.
- Establish relationships across both business and engineering teams to foster a cooperative environment.
Qualifications
Skills/Job Requirements:
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline.
- At least 5+ years as a full-time data modeler or equivalent.
- Profound knowledge of data modeling principles and best practices.
- Ability to quickly comprehend technological and business concepts.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; capable of communicating with data engineers, business users, and management to succinctly explain technical and functional concepts.
- Ability to take business requirements and convert them into a logical data model that represents the business.
- Understanding of Dimensional, Data Vault, 3NF, and Canonical data modeling techniques.
- Mentor and educate engineering and business users on the advantages and techniques of data modeling.
- Familiarity with the differences between an ERD model, DBT data model, and an ML data model.
- Strong, hands-on knowledge of SQL, including performance tuning.
- Experience with the complete software lifecycle process, delivering enterprise software products, or large-company enterprise IT projects.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and comfortable working with minimal specifications.
- Solid understanding of enterprise architecture principles.
- This job necessitates being onsite for leader-defined events and activities which could be monthly/annually. Onsite frequency may increase based on business needs.
- Candidates must be living within a commutable distance from one of our US office locations (Sunnyvale, CA, Peachtree Corners, GA, or Raleigh, NC).
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with Snowflake security, architecture, and/or engineering.
- DBT.
- Knowledge of CI/CD tools and processes for data engineering.
- Experience in an FDA regulated industry.
- Experience with Master Data Management tools and procedures.
- Understanding of Data Mesh concepts and objectives.
- Python, Node.js.
- Understanding of PII, PHI, GDPR, GxP, CCPA, and other data handling laws.
