Join the team redefining how the world experiences design.
Hey, good day, welcome!
Thanks for stopping by. We're aware that job hunting can take up some time and you're most likely eager to see what’s available, so we'll go straight to the point.
Where and how you can work
Our main campus is in Sydney. We also have a campus in Melbourne and coworking spaces in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. However, you have the freedom to choose where and how you work. This means if you want to work from the office (if you're close to one), at home or a mix of both, the decision is yours.
Job Description
What your responsibilities would be in this role
As Canva grows, change continues to be integral to our DNA. However, we like to think that's all the fun part. So, this should give you an idea of the type of work you'll be taking on when you start, knowing this will likely evolve. At present, this role requires you to:
- Find insights to help us better understand Canva and our clients - we're looking for creativity and insight, rather than just flinging the common metrics to see what sticks.
- Suggest and execute interesting experiments that will bound to move our metrics - we want to see actual improvements on the relevant graph when we run tests.
- Construct and take care of dashboards for our product teams, and make them striking - you don’t have to be a designer or possess design skills, you just need the desire to build intriguing things.
- Your role also includes managing projects, data models, dashboards and keeping other product components up-to-date in a fast-paced environment.
- Use our vast databases to answer simple sounding yet challenging (and fun!) questions.
- Assist in extending data literacy and curiosity throughout the company.
You're likely well-suited if
- You have solid competency with SQL; having experience with data warehouses like Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery is an advantage.
- You're experienced in manipulating and analysing data using Python or R.
- You can demonstrate skills in optimising product funnels, running experiments, and constructing dashboards that effectively communicate results and outcomes.
- Possibly, you have a foundation in mathematics/statistics and a bachelor's degree in a STEM area (this is not mandatory).
- Perhaps, you have experience handling large datasets (this is also not mandatory).
- You possess excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing, with the capacity to simplify complex topics into straightforward solutions and ideas.
About the team
- With Canva's continuous expansion, change exists in our DNA. But we like to see that as an exciting part of the process. So, this should give you an understanding of the type of assignments you'll be taking on when you start, knowing this will probably evolve.
- At Canva, our mission is to empower everyone to design, and we’re looking for data scientists who can help us make that happen.
- Our product has significantly grown in the past few years, now catering to hundreds of millions of users generating extensive amounts of data every day. To fuel our future growth, we need a better understanding of our data - this is where your skills come into play.
- We're looking for self-driven individuals who are curious about our product and our users and who are excited to discover valuable insights. We don't just want someone to answer questions—we want someone who can act as a genuine data partner with their team and the broader business. We have a LOT of data and need people who can help us get the most out of it!
- You’ll be part of a multifunctional product team focusing on helping businesses of all sizes maximize their opportunity on Canva. You will assist the team in deeply understanding our B2B customers to optimize the end-to-end funnel through enhancements in targeting and messaging.
What's in it for you?
Achieving our ambitious objectives motivates us to work hard - and we certainly do - but there'll be lots of moments of fun, connection, and magic intertwined throughout your time at Canva. We also provide numerous benefits to equip you for success both at work and personally.
Here's a glimpse of what's available:
- Equity packages - we want our success to be your success too
- An inclusive parental leave policy that caters to all parents & carers
- An annual 'Vibe & Thrive' allowance to facilitate your wellbeing, office setup, social connections & more
- Flexible leave options that encourage you to make a positive impact, recharge, and give you personal support.
