Senior Data Scientist Job Opportunity in Schaumburg, IL (Zurich)

Job Overview

Zurich is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to solve complex business challenges using advanced analytics and lead project teams to success. This role involves leading projects, collaborating with stakeholders, and sharing technical expertise. Work remotely with required travel to Schaumburg, IL HQ once or twice per year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a project team to understand business challenges and develop advanced analytical solutions.
  • Identify optimal data sets from diverse sources to test hypotheses.
  • Connect data sources across the organization to create comprehensive data sets.
  • Prepare data for building and refreshing predictive models.
  • Design, develop, and validate models using various techniques.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and deploy models ensuring desired impact.
  • Maintain model accuracy and integrate models into production systems.
  • Establish best practices for improving analytic techniques.
  • Foster collaborative relationships across the organization.

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or a closely related field **plus 5 years of experience**; OR
  • Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in similar fields **plus 3 years of experience**.

Experience:

  • Statistical and mathematical data analysis.
  • Mapping business requirements to technical solutions.
  • Coding in modern programming languages (Python, C++, Java, etc.).
  • Selection and training of advanced machine learning and AI models.
  • Utilization of version control software (Github, SVN, Azure DevOps, etc.).
  • Experience with MLOps and model development lifecycle.
  • Data visualization techniques and frameworks.
  • Working with databases (SQL, noSQL, transactional, etc.).
  • Big data tools (Hive, Spark, MapReduce, etc.).
  • Software testing frameworks (pytest, unittest, etc.).
  • Agile development processes (scrum, kanban, XP, etc.) and tools (Jira, Confluence, etc.).
  • Effective stakeholder communication.
