About the Catalog Data Science Team

The Walmart Catalog Data Science Team is a dynamic group of data scientists, machine learning engineers, software engineers, and other professionals. We leverage machine learning and generative AI to optimize the accuracy, completeness, and relevance of all products in Walmart's catalog, enhancing the overall customer shopping experience.

What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, and implement deep learning and generative AI models to analyze complex, large-scale product data.
• Train, fine-tune, and optimize computer vision, natural language processing, multimodal models, and Large Language Models (LLMs).
• Lead the deployment of machine learning models into production systems, ensuring high performance, scalability, and stability.
• Architect and create comprehensive systems and tools for data exploration, model development, deployment, monitoring, and logging.
• Conduct cutting-edge research in deep learning and generative AI, pushing technological boundaries.
• Mentor junior data scientists and provide guidance on complex technical issues.

What You’ll Bring

• Proficiency in Model Development: Extensive experience in creating, training, and refining AI models, particularly in computer vision, NLP, multimodal, and generative AI.
• End-to-End Experience: Proven track record of handling the entire model development and deployment lifecycle, from concept to implementation.
• Proficiency in Key Technologies: Hands-on experience with PyTorch, Hugging Face, cloud computing, and CI/CD.
• Comprehensive Understanding of Ecommerce: Expertise in leveraging AI technologies to drive business results in the ecommerce sector.
• Exceptional Problem-Solving Skills: Strong ability to tackle complex challenges under tight deadlines using a data-driven approach.

Salary and Additional Information

The annual salary range for this position is $117,000.00 - $234,000.00. Additional compensation includes performance bonuses and stock options. Benefits eligibility depends on job classification and length of employment.

Minimum and Preferred Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and 3 years' experience in an analytics-related field. Alternatively, a Master’s degree in a related field with 1 year of relevant experience, or 5 years' experience in an analytics or related field.
