The Opportunity: Senior Data Scientist

The Product Incubation Team is pivotal for defining and validating new product offerings that grow Komodo’s footprint in emerging market segments. Data scientists on this team play an essential role in developing and deploying advanced analytical models to tackle complex healthcare challenges. Their mastery of large-scale data manipulation and curiosity helps transform ambiguous problems into actionable insights.

First 12 Months at Komodo Health

In your first year, you will have:

• Developed and deployed analytical solutions across different use cases for product incubation.
• Collaborated with Product Managers to align product requirements with analytic methods and healthcare data understanding.
• Worked cross-functionally to influence data engineering and architectural decisions for scalable prototypes.
• Facilitated the transition of incubation prototypes to other teams with thorough documentation and reusable code.
• Established yourself as a trusted data science expert within Komodo.
• Continued learning and staying updated on emerging trends and technologies.

Key Responsibilities

To achieve these outcomes, you will:

• Create analytical outputs and visualizations to solve customer problems via Komodo’s platform.
• Contribute to a production codebase for SaaS products, adhering to best engineering practices.
• Collaborate with Product Managers on solution design and implementation.
• Perform exploratory data analysis and feature engineering to develop hypotheses and insights.
• Build and validate analytical models utilizing statistical and machine learning techniques.
• Communicate results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders through reports and presentations.

Skills and Experience

You bring:

• Expertise in analytical and statistical methods effective for solving real-world healthcare problems.
• Proficiency in Python and relevant libraries (e.g., pandas, scikit-learn, TensorFlow).
• Experience writing SQL queries and working with relational databases.
• Experience in large-scale data computing with best practices for collaborative software development.
• Strong business acumen and the ability to connect analytical insights to business goals.
• Effective communication skills to convey complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced agile environment.

Preferred but Not Required

• Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP).
• Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Superset, Tableau, Power BI).

Compensation

The pay range for this role is $140,000—$233,100 USD annually. Komodo Health considers multiple factors when determining compensation, including job-related skills, experience, location, and market demands. This role may also be eligible for performance-based bonuses, equity, and a competitive benefits package.

Komodo Health offers a hybrid work model with flexible options. Roles may be fully remote, regionally based, or local to our hubs in San Francisco, New York City, or Chicago.
