We're taking aim at hundreds of diseases. Our data science team comprises experts in computer science, bioinformatics, physics, biology, mathematics, applied statistics, and more. We work hand in hand with biologists, automation scientists, chemists, software engineers, and many others; our job is to create the tools and methods that will transform our experimental data into treatments for conditions that impair countless lives.

In this role, you will be an analytical and computational expert; you will develop analytical pipelines to address experimental questions, and put them into action to assist different high-throughput data generation and assay development projects.

  • Devise strategies in collaboration with biologists, engineers, and data/ML scientists on the future trajectories for advancing, broadening, and scaling the components of Recursion’s biological research platform.
  • Investigate new metrics, analyses, or models to provide answers to unresolved biological questions about our data generation processes and subsequent applications.
  • Create scalable analytical software tools to assess and relay the data generated by Recursion’s high-dimensional, high-throughput assay platform.
The Team You’ll Join

You'll become part of a multifaceted team proficient in biology, automation engineering, data science, software engineering, and product development. You can expect to be confronted with new scientific fields, high expectations for analytical software development, questions about analytical methods and applications, and lofty aims to industrialize varying aspects of the drug discovery process. Specifically, your team will work on developing and scaling cellular disease models for broad use in many research programs. A daring, collaborative, growth-oriented, and team-first mentality will be crucial for you and your team's success in this phenomenally challenging and thrilling industry.

The Experience You’ll Need
  • Applied experience regarding probability, statistics, and machine learning to real-life datasets for academic or business applications and suggestions.
  • High proficiency with the Python data stack (numpy, pandas, scikit-learn, etc).
  • Experience in cooperative software development and peer code review, including version control tools like git.
  • Experience in developing, releasing, and maintaining software in a continuous-use production environment.
  • Experience working in a rapid interdisciplinary team to solve business-related problems and conveying complex concepts and methods to audiences with varied technical backgrounds.

Nice to have: experience in analyzing biological datasets and collaborating with lab research scientists, experience with high dimensional data sets, knowledge of best-practice software development principles applied to scientific code-bases, familiarity with the Google Cloud Platform. .

Leveling
  • 3+ years of experience in an industry setting. Experience developing data science methods or tools, or relevant postgraduate experience in a related scientific or engineering field may be sufficient with equivalent experience in the development and application of analytical tools and machine learning in postdoctoral work.
  • Data Scientist (-) and Staff Data Scientist (+) levels may be considered for candidates with exceptionally well-matched skills and/or directly relevant experience.
  • A history of product development in areas directly related to Recursion’s platform, and/or experience as a technical lead driving execution in these areas is strongly preferred.
