The Role: Senior Data Scientist, Operations Research

As a pivotal member of the Operations Research team, you will play a vital role in driving supply optimization. This position centers around inventory management, forecasting, pricing, and marketing decision-making for our extensive portfolio of omnichannel products.

Responsibilities:

• Utilize discrete event simulation and stochastic optimization, including linear programming and Markov decision processes, to refine inventory policies under uncertainty.
• Collaborate with the pricing, promotions, and marketing science teams to integrate business impacts into a cohesive optimization framework.
• Work with cross-functional teams, including engineering and product management, to create and maintain interfaces for model integration.
• Manage personal development pathways, handle risks effectively, and maintain stakeholder engagement.
• Develop and support production code that drives mission-critical business decisions.

Candidate Profile:

• Advanced degree (Masters or Ph.D.) in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Operations Research, Economics, or Industrial Engineering.
• Minimum 1-3 years of experience in data science within e-commerce or supply chain environments, depending on academic qualifications.
• Proficiency in simulation modeling, Python or R, SQL, and version control systems like Git.
• Experience with modern machine learning techniques and tools such as XGBoost, LightGBM, and Pytorch.
• Strong foundation in forecasting, pricing strategies, and causal inference.
• Familiarity with distributed computing platforms like Databricks, Snowflake, or Spark.
